Hello and welcome to EMT Emergency Medicine Tutorials. EMT is a website and podcast designed by and for junior emergency medicine doctors. Hopefully EMT will fill a gap in eduction for junior ED docs by supplying the basic information we need to do the job in easy to find and learn format. The Podcasts/MP3s allow you to learn by listening while you have fun, get fit and enjoy the outdoors either playing or commuting. The Website contains the same material in downloadable MP3 format but also in easily searchable text so that you can quickly look things up while you are at work.
Some of the material is written by us, well me really, my main collaborator has buggered off to Afganistan, but I've stolen what ever I think I can get away with stealing from anything I can find on the net or from local presentations/protocols. The material from EMRAP I have permission to reproduce. Ideally the podcast should start with the basics of what you need to know in ED on your first day - but it doesn't. I'm writing this material as I need to learn it or as I need to teach it at work so it's coming at you in a fairly random order. The website is far from complete and you won't find everything you need to know on it - but it will become more comprehensive with time. There will be bits and peices about looking after yourself and also about looking after your patients in a slightly more holistic way than is the norm in our medical system. If any of you feel inspired to produce a piece for the podcast or website - it's a great way to learn! - flick me an email at chricres@gmail.com I hope this is useful. A good place to start is Welcome to ED I'll also sneak the odd piece of great Australasian music in from time to time. Enjoy Chris Cresswell Emergency Medicine Physician Whanganui New Zealand |
